my visit to the uninhabited island

Today we went across a seldom seen land bridge, to an uninhabited island that you can only get to at very low tide and found...

Some sea potatos

spines up! under the water...

another one in the water
one under the sand
another under the water
one in my hand!

Also two hermit crabs

a few striped Venus shells

a paddleworm

and a weird weird fricky fricky thing

what is this thing?
**We have since asked several people about the identification of these creatures and although no one seems to have actually seen them before, they have been identified as "Goose Barnacles". Thanks to Jessica's Nature Blog - http://natureinfocus.wordpress.com/category/seashells/

It has a central body and then arms and pods on the end of the arms

and some pink seaweek (my favourite :)
